Ok, so here’s the deal with stand-up comedy in Thailand: The name to know Bangkok Hilarious
What you need to know about stand up comedy in Bangkok Thailand
Bangkok Hilarious is Thailand’s longest running English comedy collective, it was founded by two of my funniest friends Leandro Soares and Graham Wooding. Through the years they have managed to regularly set up some of the top comedy-shows and open mic nights Bangkok could offer, some of the best weekends out in town started by sharing a few drinks and laughs at their shows.
I was just told they are bringing their biggest comic to date (yes, they bring international talent to their shows once a month): The amazing Northen Irish Comedian Martin Mor.
Now, Mr Mor is no joke (pun intended I suppose). He has been on the BBC, travelled the world for decades opening for some of the biggest names in the industry while cementing a name for himself… and he is now coming to Bangkok! Here, check out Mr Mor warming up for Frankie Boyle’s DVD show:
Indeed! He will be insulting, he will be inappropriate and he will make you laugh! You can actually buy the tickets already, the guys at Bangkok Hilarious just released the show on ticketmelon.
Bangkok Hilarious vision for the future stand-up comedy in the land of smiles
I guess is also a good time to explain the awesome plans they guys at Bangkok Hilarious have for comedy in our region… I figured since I’m a digital marketer and web-designer in Pattaya, I would give them a hand spreading their message around, because mind you…
Ever since it’s inception, Bangkok Hilarious has had one clear goal in mind: to make Bangkok the ASEAN hub for stand-up comedy.
Stand up comedy in Thailand:
Going with the times, Bangkok Hilarious has managed to establish itself as favorite with expats and Thais alike. With more than 60 shows under their belt, they are now expanding around Thailand and beyond ( including some international performances in Japan and Hong Kong).
Still, there’s a lot of work to do at home before we can consider comedy as an established industry, which brings me to my next point…
